Kamwangi - Kenya

Origin: Kirinyaga, Kenya

Process: Washed

Tasting Notes: Grapefruit, Blackberry, Licorice

Roast: Light

Kamwangi is one of three factories run by Ngariama Cooperative Society, and was established in 1983, serving over 1500 members. It is located in Kirinyaga, an area known for very high quality coffee at the base of Mount Kenya, filled with fertile volcanic soil and freshwater streams. While fertile terroir is ideal, most would agree cup quality comes from Kenya’s notable commitment to processing cherry. The entire regimen is sometimes referred to as the 72 hour process, a triple ferment process where the third stage utilizes fresh water to remove any lingering fruit. The result is a cup with great complexity, sweetness and intensity.
